The fantastic Neaves road north of Perth is surrounded by all types of native blooms from Banksia Grove all the way to Bullsbrook. This batch celebrates those blooms at springtime. Batch 33 - Banksia and Lemon Scented Eucalyptus – Creamed (sold out)
The lemon scented gum, while native to Queensland, not WA is found planted all around our beehives in Mariginiup. Flowering at the end of winter / start of spring the nectar foraged from these trees add to the winter stores from the Banksia flowers earlier. The honey is light, sweet and a bit tart. The Eucalyptus Accedens, commonly known as Powderbark Wandoo, is found only in Western Australia and is distinguished from other native Eucalyptus by the powdery orange coating on its bark. For a few months from December it produces bushy white flowers, from which the bees love to forage nectar. The resulting honey is dark, with a herbal, slightly liquorice aroma.
